Prabhupada Nectar
I am so much pleased to learn that you are taking Sankirtana as your life and soul. There is no doubt about Krishna's being pleased very much upon those who are engaged in such Sankirtana Movement, that is admitted by Lord Krishna

Correspondence

1970 Correspondence

700401 - Letter to Hansadutta written from Los Angeles

My Dear Hansadutta,

Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 27th March, 1970. I have duly received your $300 transferred from Germany and I understand that you are transferring another $1,500 to my account. The mail strike is already over. I am enclosing herewith a letter for Himavati, giving her instruction.

So far Sankirtana is concerned, I am so much pleased to learn that you are taking Sankirtana as your life and soul. There is no doubt about Krsna's being pleased very much upon those who are engaged in such Sankirtana Movement, that is admitted by Lord Krsna in the Bhagavad-gita and Caitanya Caritamrta. Some of the best students like you, Tamala, Mukunda, Syamasundara, and Jaya Govinda, are all now in Europe. Now you form a strong party for opening centers as well as organizing the World Sankirtana Party.

This Sankirtana Party, backed by literatures and books, will certainly bring in a great change in the modern civilization. Godless civilization can never be happy. Therefore as soon as they become Krsna conscious, they will feel practical happiness without any doubt.

I am so glad that Sivananda is going to be married with a German girl; and similarly, Krsna das may be also married. My Guru Maharaja created some Brahmacaris and Sannyasis for preaching work, and I am creating all Grhasthas. This means that we have to adjust things in favor of circumstances in the matter of pushing Krsna Consciousness Movement forward.

By correspondence, I am trying to secure a great quantity of Deities and mrdangas from India, so we must utilize them by opening various center, which means we must have sufficient manpower, and this will depend on your Sankirtana Party. Then everything will go on nicely.

Hope this will meet you in good health.

Your ever well-wisher,

A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

How I Met Swami Bhaktivedanta
How I Met Swami Bhaktivedanta

By Haridas Das

In September 1965 I went up to Ananda Ashram, an hour and a half out of New York City. I went there mostly to get out of the city. The Indian guru who presided at the Ashram I had met before in New York at a Yoga Society. Many of my friends were involved with him studying Raja Yoga, a form of meditation. They were very enthusiastic and tried to persuade me to come uptown with them to their meetings. There was a lecture by the guru of the Ashram and a girl read from book. ...

Bhakti is not just a choice of the head – it is also the calling of the heart

By Chaitanya Charan Das

Suppose we are driving to some destination and come to a fork. If we are unsure about which way to go, we will move slowly or not move at all. But even if we are sure, that conviction alone will not take us ahead – we need to drive ahead. A similar dynamic applies to our spiritual practice. Spiritual growth is essentially a journey of the heart from worldly objects to Krishna. Such a journey requires philosophical conviction. When we have to choose between some worldly object and Krishn...

Just as the same electricity can be used to heat or cool a building, so Krsna's energies can be used for different purposes according to the living entity's desire. That doesn't mean that the living entity can control Krsna's energies, only that he can use them. When a conditioned soul wishes to exploit the material nature, he contacts the material energy. When he no longer wish...

The Origin and Evolution of the Vedic System

Veda means knowledge. The word Veda is related to the Sanskrit root ‘vid’ meaning ‘to know’. So, it encompasses the entire corpus of knowledge, both phenomenal and numinous. Actually, knowledge is established through three primary epistemological premises, viz., sense perception, logical-mathematical inference and reliable testimony. However, when a subject employs inductive methodology to acquire knowledge, it is inhibited by four defects, viz., limited senses, illusory perception, mistaken inference and cheating propensity. As a result, inductive methodology cannot reliably establish...

A seminar with Dr. Richard L. Thompson (Sadaputa Dasa)

Radhadesh Seminar #3, 1988, Durbuy, Belgium - God and the Laws of Physics

Historically, in the development of western thought, a conflict arose between science and religion, based on the concept that Nature follows physical laws. Newtonian determinism gave rise to the notion that “God is dead”, and Darwinian evolution seemed to drive the nails in the coffin. But with the advent of quantum mechanics, the means for reconnecting matter and spirit appeared. Thompson astutely compares the quantum fields espoused by modern physicists to the idea of shabda (organized vibrational patterns) described by Vedic sages, and then demonstrates how the Supersoul could conceivably control matter through the deterministic chaos inherent in these fields, without violating the laws of nature.
