The Annual Bhaktivedanta Swami Lecture series has been hosted at prestigious South African academic institutions since 2013 and has become one of The Bhaktivedanta Book Trust’s (BBT) hallmark events. This forum engages current and future leaders in analyzing the issues facing our world today and provides insights from the vantage point of Vedic knowledge. The Lecture has drawn the attention of a global audience tackling issues in education, leadership, economic, and social transformation. The Lecture series is named after His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of The BBT. It honors his important literary and social contribution. He has authored and translated into English more than 70 volumes of books based on timeless Vedic wisdom that were previously locked in the Sanskrit language. Today, his books are the preferred authoritative academic texts in universities across the globe.
The 2020, 7th Annual Bhaktivedanta Swami Lecture titled Rethinking Human Values, discusses the importance of human values in shaping society, underpinned by reclaiming our spiritual values for a just and caring society. There exist deep fractures in the foundations of our current model of society and its values. The social, economic and environmental toll of our way of life have all been subject to greater scrutiny in 2020. While the COVID era buckles the global economy, how do we respond and appeal towards an ethical society? The fractures created by ego driven power, corruption, inequality, abuse, discrimination in all forms are the known realities. A natural sequitur of the current state of our planet would be to enquire whether or not our way of life and portrayal of our character is what it should be. Join us online on the 11th October 2020 at 3pm CAT [6:30 PM IST, 9 AM EST] when we examine this question by seeing how restoring spiritual values towards character development and practical solutions can help us reshape our world into one that values morality and integrity. Our esteemed contributors are Professor Thuli Madonsela and Dr Ramchunder Singh. Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ6z0SmCxzA Facebook: https://web.facebook.com/BBTAfrica?_rdc=1&_rdr |
